Message from the President

Last week, the Public Entity Partners Board of Directors met to deliberate on rate changes for FY 2022, as well as consideration of a dividend declaration. We are happy to share with you that our Board of Directors declared a $7,500,000 dividend to be returned to eligible members on renewal invoices.

Public Entity Partners also reviewed the actuarial study performed on our base rates and made recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding potential changes. Our organization is committed to providing stability in the Tennessee municipal property / casualty marketplace through our coverages, and working to ensure that the premiums we charge adequately cover our members’ losses.

We are happy to share that workers’ compensation base rates will be reduced by an average of 9.1%. Our members have seen improved experience, partly due to the 2014 Workers’ Compensation Reform.

While loss experience related to workers’ compensation has improved, other lines of coverage, including law enforcement liability base rates, have an increase of 8%. The most common types of law enforcement liability claims include allegations of excessive use of force, false arrest, and illegal search and seizure. It is of note that allegations of excessive use of force are not only the most frequent type of law enforcement liability claim faced by police agencies, they are also the most costly to investigate and defend.

As our organization invests in programs and training that support the educational efforts of police agencies, that investment is intended to pay dividends to the police agencies we serve, as well as the citizens served by those police agencies.

The Board of Directors approved the following base rate changes:

Workers’ Compensation -9.10%
Property +12.00%
General Liability -9.50%
Errors & Omissions No Change
Law Enforcement Liability +8.00%
Auto Liability +2.70%
Auto Physical Damage -4.00%

Our vision is to make a difference in the lives of Tennessee public entity employees and the citizens they serve. If we can be of assistance to you, please reach out to me or our team members.  Contact information for our team is available at Contact | Public Entity Partners | Franklin TN (pepartners.org).

Stay safe,
