With Gratitude!

A couple of weeks ago, you received an email from PEP President Michael Fann expressing PEP’s gratitude for all you did during the legislative session. While he was correct in saying “thank you” is not enough, we want to take another opportunity to convey our gratitude.

As you know, this was a very busy legislative session for PEP. First, understanding the importance of keeping members informed and engaged, we instituted legislative alerts. Each week, we sent out updates on bills being heard that would impact you and PEP — and you responded!

The number of calls, emails and questions we received about legislation during meetings let us know you were paying attention. And not only did you pay attention to the alerts, but you took up the "call to action" week after week, consistently engaging your legislative delegations. For that, we are grateful.

Additionally, several of you received calls from PEP’s member services team late at night and early in the morning, sometimes the day the legislation was to be heard, asking you to reach out to your legislative delegation about the impact the legislation would have on your entity.

Not only did you pick up the phone and take the time to listen and understand, but the overwhelming response that we received was "I will call today." For that, we are grateful.

It is because of your calls, emails and in-person conversations with your legislators, and members from other pools and several stakeholder organizations doing the same, that neither HB0004/SB0418 nor HB0476/SB1383 passed this year. Both of these bills would have likely had a significant negative impact on PEP and its members.

What you did this past legislative session is proof that engagement and advocacy can change everything! We are grateful for your engagement and advocacy on behalf of PEP and each member of the pool over the last several months.

With gratitude!
