Message From the President - January 2021

In July of 2020, Public Entity Partners’ leadership team, in conjunction with our Board of Directors, began a strategic planning process. In December, the Board of Directors approved and adopted revised vision and mission statements and organizational values. These components of the strategic plan represent the cultural core of our organization, and will guide and define the programs and services Public Entity Partners seeks to provide to members in the coming years.

Virtual Academy

One year ago, Public Entity Partners began a partnership with Virtual Academy to provide a subscription supplement for law enforcement-specific online training. Virtual Academy provides high-quality, engaging training with nationally recognized experts, and the platform allows law enforcement agencies to easily manage, track and create training records and department files. PE Partners’ subscription supplement programs will cover 66% of the cost for law enforcement agencies with 1 - 15 officers, 50% of the cost for agencies with 16 - 30 officers, and 25% of the cost for agencies with 31 or more officers. Over the past year, PE Partners’ members with law enforcement agencies saved almost $76,000 as a result of this subscription supplement program.

How-To Videos for Online Claims Filing

In September, Public Entity Partners began using a new claims management system, Origami Risk. The online claims forms that are used to submit claims also changed as part of this claims administration system. Anyone within your organization who has access to our online portal can file claims for your entity online. The online claims forms include the ability to save an incident in draft status. Some members are leaving incidents in draft status without submitting the claim. When an incident is left in draft status our adjusters do not receive the claim for processing.

Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation Program

It is no secret that Public Entity Partners encourages and supports professional standards. The Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation (TLEA) Program, created under the authority of the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police (TACP), sets professional standards and focuses on professional accountability, management and operations for law enforcement. Earlier this week, the Professional Standards Committee met as part of the TACP meeting, and announced the Tennessee law enforcement agencies that have achieved and maintained accreditation through the TLEA Program.

Public Entity Partners has labored with you throughout this year, and we’re still hard at work, responding to your loss control and underwriting questions, while continuing to handle the liability, property and workers’ compensation claims that are submitted each day. During this pandemic, we encourage you to always make the health and safety of your employees and team members your highest priority, and take the necessary steps to ensure they are protected as much as reasonably possible.

PRIMA Institute Scholarship Winners

This year’s PRIMA Institute (PI), held in October 2020, was a first for two reasons — the event was conducted virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and this new format, which reduced travel and lodging costs, gave PE Partners the opportunity to award a scholarship to all 16 applicants.
