Bill Magoon recently retired from his position as Public Entity Partners’ (PEP’s) East Tennessee property conservation consultant. Both PEP and its members have benefitted from his expertise and unwavering commitment for an impressive 22 years. Bill consistently went the extra mile, embodying the values of member focus and exceptional service that PEP holds dear.

Bill was a true pioneer within this organization, helping to build the property conservation program from the ground up as PEP’s first dedicated property employee. When he first joined PEP, Bill covered the entire state, ensuring the highest standards of property loss control were implemented across Tennessee. As PEP grew, the state was first divided into two regions, then eventually three. Throughout these changes, Bill continued to excel, ensuring that PEP’s members received his steadfast dedication to excellence and undivided attention.

Before Bill joined PEP, the organization contracted out the work required for its property conservation program. However, Bill's vision and dedication led him to take on the challenge personally, making him instrumental in the program's success. His exceptional contributions to the industry were recognized in 2017 when he and fellow Property Conservation Consultant Andy Lacewell were honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award for an Intergovernmental Risk Pool Program from the prestigious Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA), which was presented at the PRIMA conference in Phoenix, Arizona.

“Bill Magoon's dedication to serving others extended far beyond his role as a property loss control consultant,” said Chester Darden, PEP’s director of loss control. “He was a two-mile man in a one-mile world, always willing to go above and beyond to meet the needs of PEP's members and co-workers. His servant's heart and selflessness made him a beloved team player, investing himself in the growth and success of his teammates and PEP's member partners.”

Bill's remarkable contributions to the industry were further recognized in 2022 when he received the highly esteemed Distinguished Service Award at the Southeast Loss Control (SELC) Group conference. This accolade celebrated his exceptional commitment, dedication and tireless service to the SELC membership, the pooling industry and the public risk discipline across the United States. The highest honor bestowed by the SELC, this award celebrates Bill's outstanding achievements and the profound impact he made throughout his career.

“Bill Magoon's legacy at Public Entity Partners is one of unwavering dedication, exceptional service, and a relentless pursuit of excellence,” said Michael Fann, president/CEO of PEP. “His contributions have left an indelible mark on the organization, its members, and the entire public risk management industry.”

When not passionately serving PEP, Bill found solace and freedom on the open road, riding his beloved Harley with his wife, Cindy. Now that he is retired, Bill plans to indulge his passion even more, embarking on new adventures and relishing the joy that comes with riding. As he begins this new chapter in his life, we extend our deepest gratitude and wish him the very best.
