Casta Brice Receives PE Partners’ Excellence in Risk Management Award

Casta Brice, human resources director for the City of Tullahoma, is the consummate professional. She has expanded the coordination of customary human resource and loss prevention duties into an Employee-First philosophy that provides greater protection for all employees.

While maintaining high human resources standards, Casta has brought a new perspective to her role by developing a forward-thinking training program, and creating new opportunities for incorporating risk management practices. Casta saw a need for city lifeguards to learn how to handle harassment and coordinated an annual lifeguard harassment training program. She realized that not all city employees are available at the same time for safety- and job-related training, and implemented an online program. She has also created the city’s ADA Transition Plan.

When the pandemic became a reality, Casta stepped up and created a COVID-19 Exposure Response Plan & Infectious Disease Control Policy. She also implemented Pandemic Personal Time Off (PPTO) for employees to use that is outside of the city’s leave time, providing employees with 90 hours of paid leave without having to use their own vacation or sick leave should they need to be quarantined. In addition to these efforts, she coordinated an online open enrollment for employee benefits this year so employees could enroll virtually.
