Jennifer Benjamin, risk management and safety coordinator with the Town of Collierville, was a recipient of the Excellence in Risk Management Scholarship by Public Entity Partners, which allowed her to participate in the National Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) annual conference in San Antonio, Texas, earlier this year.

This scholarship provided Jennifer the opportunity to interact with risk management professionals from across the country, and build a network of vastly experienced risk managers to call upon to help her navigate the issues the Town of Collierville may face in addressing safety and risk.

“The ‘Fleet Management for Public Entity’ session addressed many of the concerns I face daily when managing claims for Collierville’s fleet vehicles,” Jennifer said. “The principles taught in this session helped equip me with ideas to address policies and procedures that the Town of Collierville can implement to control our exposures.

“The ’You’re Filming a TV Show Here!!!’ session addressed best practices for managing special events to reduce risk and liability, which was an eye-opening experience,” Jennifer continued. “It raised questions I had never thought of addressing. When I returned to Collierville, I immediately started looking into our insurance requirements for special events and familiarizing myself with our process.”

Jennifer’s attendance at the PRIMA national conference provided her with the necessary knowledge and resources to help the Town of Collierville improve its current risk management programs.

“All the sessions were outstanding, and I learned something new at every session I attended,” Jennifer said. “I owe a huge thank you to Public Entity Partners for choosing me for the scholarship and allowing me to attend the conference, which equipped me to grow as a risk professional.”
