Award Winner-Leland Blackwood, City of Maryville

In his role as risk manager for the city, Leland Blackwood has worked diligently for more than 19 years to make safety a priority across the city and among the entity’s more than 300 employees, and to safeguard public resources, including buildings valued at nearly $220 million.

The city provides EMS, fire, parks and recreation, water and sewer services, and also administers the Bartlett Performing Arts & Conference Center, Bartlett Senior Center, community and rec centers, and municipal school district. Bartlett is branded as a “Great place to live, work, raise a family and retire,” and was named one of Tennessee’s safest cities in 2016 and 2018.
